UK Student Visa Requirements
Overview
To apply for a UK Student visa, you must be 16 or over and have been offered a place on a course by a licensed student sponsor. You’ll need to demonstrate that you have enough money to support yourself and pay for your course, as well as meet other requirements such as English proficiency and parental consent if you’re under 18.
Financial Requirements
- Living Costs:
- London: £1,400 per month
- Outside London: £1,100 per month
- Funds must cover living costs for up to nine months
- Course Fees: Proof of funds to cover the first year’s tuition fees
- Visa Application Fee: £510 for those applying from outside the UK
Required Documents
- Current Passport or Valid Travel Documentation
- Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) from your course provider
- Proof of Funds: Bank statements covering a consecutive 28-day period, no more than 31 days from the visa application date
- Proof of English Proficiency: Depending on your course and nationality
- Parental Consent: If you’re under 18
- Tuberculosis Test Results: If required
- Healthcare Surcharge Payment: Depending on the length of your visa
Application Process
- Apply Online: Start your application on the UK government website.
- Prove Your Identity: Use the UK Immigration: ID Check app or visit a visa application center for biometric information.
- Submit Required Documents: Ensure all necessary documents are included.
- Pay Fees: Pay the visa application fee and healthcare surcharge.
- Wait for Decision: You’ll usually get a decision within 3 weeks.
